Saint Joseph’s Center has long history of caring for children with special needs. The trend continues today in the Center’s state-of-the-art Weinberg Therapy Building. Experienced therapists utilize a play-based gym, a therapeutic pool, the latest in communication technologies, and full music and recreation therapy facilities to provide each child with a comprehensive therapy service. Licensed therapists evaluate skills and work one-on-one through an individually developed plan of care. By incorporating the family and/or caregiver, we hope to attain functional goals and ultimately to improve the quality of life for each child.

Pediatric Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy focuses on improving strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, mobility, and motor development. Pediatric Physical Therapy can benefit children of all ages with medical diagnosis such as: developmental delay, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, low muscle tone, torticollis, prematurity and genetic abnormalities.
Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy seeks to rehabilitate or develop a child’s ability to perform routine daily tasks such as dressing, eating, bathing and personal grooming. Occupational Therapists also work with children on specific cognitive, sensory, perceptual or upper-extremity needs.
Pediatric Speech-Language Therapy
Speech-Language Pathologists assist children to associate words, symbols or pictures with people, objects or actions. Developing a functional means of communication creates a building block for more efficient interaction with families, friends and caregivers. Pediatric Speech-Language therapy can benefit children of all ages with diagnosis such as: aphasia, oral-motor/feeding deficits, auditory processing challenges, autism, delayed/disordered speech and language, stuttering (fluency), voice disorders, and traumatic brain injury. Speech-Language Pathologists employ traditional interventions, play-based therapy and can assess the need for, and offer training on, the latest communication devices.
Pediatric Music Therapy
Music Therapy soothes pain, relieves stress and relaxes muscles. It builds self-esteem, encourages interaction, uplifts spirits, strengthens the immune system, enhances well being and much more. Music Therapists assess emotional well being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities and cognitive skills through musical responses. They design music sessions for individuals and groups based on client need including: learning through music, music improvisation, receptive music listening, music performance, music and imagery, song writing, and lyric discussion.
Pediatric Recreational Therapy
Recreation Therapy is an activity-based intervention that promotes the independent physical, cognitive, emotional and social functioning of children with disabilities. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists use sensory, movement and play therapy, as well as adaptive leisure training and aquatic therapy, to help children develop physical skills, interactive abilities and self-esteem.
