Saint Joseph’s Center welcomes community members who are interested in volunteering and making an impact on our mission. Some of the most popular ways that volunteers get involved include conducting fundraisers or collections of needed items, weekly volunteering at various locations, serving on a committee, board, or planning a group service activity.

In 1888 it was a group of women volunteers who chose to take action in addressing the problem of unmarried mothers and homeless children in the city of Scranton. That decision brought Saint Joseph’s Center into being, and it is the ongoing commitment from their successors that enable the organization to continue.
Known as the area’s “Biggest Backyard Picnic,” the annual Summer Festival counts on hundreds of volunteers and the organizational leadership of the Auxiliary. Additional fundraisers and special events hosted throughout the year include Night at the Races, Golf Tournament, Chicken Dinner, and the Dennis Crafferty Memorial Auction, to name a few. Funds generated by these events help finance renovation projects, purchase needed equipment, highlight employee recognition and provide holiday activities across the Center’s programs.
Saint Joseph’s Center Auxiliary welcomes those interested in joining its membership to get involved by attending upcoming events.
